Woman shot, killed while driving car on Holly Road

A woman was shot and killed shortly after 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 while driving inside of her car on Holly Road near Staples Street.

According to witnesses, the woman was shot in the head, crashed her Ford Fusion vehicle into a fire hydrant at a bank nearby at 6009 Holly Road. Several people were in the vehicle with the victim. Two of them were transported to a local hospital with injuries.

Multiple shell casings and evidence markers at the scene beginning from Holly Road and Staples Street were seen as police shut down the entire area until 6 a.m.

The shooting victim has been identified as 20 year old Roslyn Ramon.

The family has identied 20 year old shooting victim as Roslyn Ramon of Corpus Christi, Texas.

One person who was inside of the vehicle at the time of the shooting says that a red Jeep was tailgating the victims black Ford Fusion. When the red Jeep pulled up next to the black Ford Fusion, multiple shots were fired striking the young woman driving and another passenger in the leg. Police were unable to provide the Crónica with any information due to investigative purposes.

Shortly before the shooting, police were dispatched to a fatal car accident on Access Road of South Padre Island Drive at Embassy Suites for a fatal accident around 2:10 a.m. One person was dead on arrival and several others were rescued from the silver colored sedan that struck a palm tree. It is unclear if the fatal accident was related to the shooting on Holly Road at this time, but there was 10 shell casings found in the parking lot of a night club nearby.
