Two people are dead after an overnight accident that occurred on the Crosstown Expressway near Gollihar Road in Corpus Christi.
According to police dispatch, the driver of a maroon Mercury Mountaineer was traveling the wrong way in the 4500 block of Crosstown Expressway (286) when the driver smashed into a silver SUV around 2:21 a.m. Friday.
The driver of the maroon Mercury Mountaineer was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when the collision occurred.
Preliminary information from police states that after the Mountaineer hit the silver SUV, the driver Mercury Mountaineer was ejected onto the road before the vehicle came to a stop. The driver was a female.

No other information was announced at the scene by police other than two were pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither driver has yet to be identified by the Nueces County Medical Examiner.
Crónica sources say the wrong way driver was 28 year old Crystal Nichole Pineda.

The accident is still under investigation.
