In South Texas many Texans take pride in making BBQ, but what about locally owned businesses that serve the public? On Thursday, July 15, 2020 the Corpus Christi Crónica went on the hunt for the best BBQ spots in town. We stopped by Mesquite House BBQ located at 3401 Morgan Ave, Corpus Christi, TX 78405 at around 11:30 p.m.
On Wednesday we stopped by Mesquite House BBQ to see what they do to smoke their Briskets. Of course, for Texas-style BBQ, the primary choice of wood is Mesquite.
When we arrived we were greeted by the owner of the BBQ restaurant at the door and we quickly smelled Mesquite smoke in the air. We managed to grab a table right on time before a lunch rush came in.
We ordered a Brisket sandwich and a Dino Rib with the bone-in with beans for our sides. The waiter right away brought us our sweet teas and when our BBQ arrived our mouths began to water.
The BBQ Brisket was moist, flavorful, and smelled delicious. The top was burned dark, but don’t let that fool you, it worked beautifully with the taste. The bun was shiny and soft. By the end of our meal, I was planning my next trip with the rest of the family. The best part of the whole meal was the Dino Ribs and the beef falls off the bone. It’s almost like butter!
Deep in the west side of Corpus Christi you will find a BBQ gem. This place is perfect for lunch and with a large group of people.
