Some thrill-seekers at Buc Days carnival got more excitement than they bargained for Thursday night when several people had to be rescued from a ride that stalled in a power outage.
According to one passenger, the harness became loose and could have possibly dropped multiple people from the top of the Mega Drop ride from at least 10 stories. This incident occurs less than two months after Tyre Sampson, 14, died after plunging from the Free Fall attraction at ICON Park.
Corpus Christi Police officers ran to the scene and controlled the crowd who were in horror and some kids even crying.
The ride ground to a halt around 9:20 p.m. and several customers needed to be evacuated. The passengers were not injured during the malfunction. Not clear on whether safety measures for the carnivals power supply will be looked over again by emergency management officials from the city of Corpus Christi.
