A police pursuit through the city of Corpus Christi ended in a 2-vehicle accident on the intersection of Staples Street and Craig Street.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. several police officers were in the Brownlee Boulevard area searching for a stolen vehicle that an officer spotted. When one officer tried to catch up with the stolen vehicle, the driver accelerated and turned off the vehicle lights.
When the police officer disengaged with the vehicle, moments later, the pursuing officer rolled up on a major vehicle accident involving the stolen maroon SUV at the intersection of S. Staples and Criag Street. The subject involved in the pursuit fled the scene and will be facing a felony charge of Accident involving death or injury after being found by police on 7th Street and Craig Street.
As a result of the crash, several passengers in a black Mitsubishi Lancer were injured. One passenger had to be rescued from the vehicle due to being trapped inside. The passenger was rushed to a local hospital with injuries. The intersection was also closed for traffic due to the debris in the roadway and the Corpus Christi Fire Department helped with the clean up. AEP was also notified for a down power line. No police officers were injured during the incident.
