Mother arrested after 2 year old twin boy found alone weighing 17 pounds

A 34-year-old Corpus Christi woman has been charged with child endangerment in Victoria, Texas. Family members of toddler twins tell the Crónica the 2 year boy was taken to a San Antonio Children’s hospital. They said he was malnourished at 17 pounds. They said the twin girl appears to be fine, but was getting some medical tests in Victoria for severe diaper rashes. Victoria County Jail say Kimberly Marroquin Salas is charged with child endangerment by causing serious bodily injury.

Average weight for a 2 year old is 26.5 pounds for girls and 27.5 pounds for boys, according to the World Health Organization.

According to the bioilogical father, Mateo Mendoza, says Kimberly Salas has a total or 9 children and 6 of children are in child protective services after losing her parental rights. “Thank God I had my 11 month old during this time, CPS dropped the ball bad on this one by allowing her to be on drugs while having custody” says the father Mateo Mendoza.

A 2 year old child was transported to San Antonio’s Children Hospital after found alone weighing only 17 pounds.

The two twin children were found alone at the Autumn Park Apartments. Salas was booked into jail around 12:30 a.m. May 5. She’s being held on a $25,000 bond.
