Road rage was taken to a violent new level on South Padre Island Drive near Paul Jones Drive in an fatal accident that took the life of one person Sunday evening.
Police and Fire Fighters were dispatched to a major vehicle accident near the Oso Bay Turnaround on South Padre Island Drive. When police arrived they found one person dead on arrival in a nearby field. Another person was transported to Bay Area Hospital nearby in critical condition.
One eye witness tell police that the accident was caused by road rage and when the two trucks collided, both flew off the freeway and ended up on a field. At least one person was ejected, but possible two.
Police say that one of the drivers will possibly be facing Intoxication Manslaughter charges after the passenger of his truck was found dead. The entire westbound lanes were shut down by police due to debris that started in Flour Bluff. The scene had to be secured until investigators were able to get to the hard to reach scene due to the congested traffic that was caused from incoming vehicles in Flour Bluff and the Island.
