3 murders in 3 days: CCPD say they are searching for suspects

The Corpus Christi Police Department CCPD are trying to track down shooters in three separate homicides that happened leading up to the Martin Luther King holiday.

All three shootings have happened in different parts of the city and all of them are unrelated to the other.

On Friday morning, 28 year old Jorge Hernandez was gunned down on the intersection of Campbell Street and Lee Street near Driscoll Children’s Hospital. The Crónica was able to obtain camera footage on the moments before the shooting.

On Saturday, just after midnight, 38 year old Cruz Esquivel was shot while driving multiple times on the intersection of Gollihar Road and Prescott Street.

38 year old Cruz Esquivel was pronounced dead on the intersection of Gollihar Road and Bernandino Street after being shot multiple times and than crashing into a home.

Esquivel’s vehicle crashed into a home on Bernadino where he was pronounced dead on arrival by paramedics after he was shot in the head.

CCPD looking for the vehicle of interest in the shooting death of 38 year old Cruz Esquivel.

The third homicide came in on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at approximately 1:30 a.m at the Pointe Apartments located on the 1900 block of Rodd Field Road. A 28-year-old man, who has not been identifed, was shot and was rushed to a hospital by another citizen. The man sustained life threatening injuries where he later succumbed to the gun shot wound.

Investigators are searching for the suspect driving a black 4 door vehicle with a missing hubcap on the driver side.

Despite the latest homicides and a violent way to start the new year, the Corpus Christi Police Department was able to solve 100% of 2021’s homicides, but they need the publics help in finding these three different murder suspects.
